A Mini Bi-Pin (sometimes referred to as a 2-pin) socket is the standard form for use with IEC lamp fittings. The sockets are typically used with small incandescent light bulbs or fluorescent lights. Mini Bi-Pin sockets accommodate lamps with pinks that are closer together than standard bi-pin lamps, which helps prevent excessive heat and limits fire potential. Mini Bi-Pin sockets may be either shunted or unshunted depending on the application.
